Character & Performance
Red Oak is a widely used American flooring hardwood with warm tones, open grain, and excellent workability. It brings familiar character to residential and commercial interiors.
T&F Lumber manufactures solid, unfinished Red Oak from carefully selected American hardwood, kiln-dried, graded, and precision-milled under our NOFMA-certified hardwood production standards.
Balanced hardness
A Janka hardness of approximately 1,290 lbf provides useful resistance to everyday dents and wear.
Warm appearance
Light to medium brown heartwood, often with reddish undertones, contrasts with paler sapwood.
Stain versatility
Supplied unfinished, Red Oak offers broad options for installer-applied stains and finishes.
Everyday applications
Suited to living rooms, bedrooms, dining areas, hallways, stairs, and appropriate commercial interiors.

Is It Right for Your Project?
Choose Red Oak for classic grain, warm color, finishing flexibility, and a value-conscious hardwood option. It works well in renovations, remodels, custom homes, and builder programs.
For a more neutral color palette, consider White Oak. For greater hardness and stronger natural contrast, consider Hickory. Request samples to compare the actual material.
Design & Finish
Red Oak machines, nails, sands, and stains well. Choose natural, light, medium, or deeper site-applied finishes to suit traditional, transitional, farmhouse, and vintage-inspired interiors.
All flooring is supplied unfinished. Your flooring professional should confirm site conditions, acclimation, installation, finishing, and ongoing care for the chosen species and plank width.
Milling & Quality
How is this flooring milled?
Tongue-and-groove profiles, stress-relief grooves on the back of every board, kiln-dried material, and tight machining tolerances support consistent thickness and fit. Each board is visually graded and inspected throughout production. End-matching is standard on most grades and widths; discuss project-specific exceptions with our team.
What quality standards apply?
Our certified hardwood flooring is produced under the NWFA/NOFMA Mill Quality Assurance Program, with independent inspections of grade, moisture content, and milling consistency.
