Our Select & Better – Vertical Grain New Heart Pine is carefully selected and sawn for even grain lines and a refined appearance. Primarily available in 2¼″ and 3¼″ widths, it is especially suited to period architecture, historic preservation, and high-end new construction. Select sourcing and limited production keep the emphasis on quality.
Character & Performance
Our New Heart Pine is manufactured from premium Longleaf Southern Yellow Pine sourced from a trusted supplier in Alabama. Its tight grain and warm amber tones offer an appealing newly milled alternative to reclaimed pine.
Select sourcing and limited production keep the focus on quality. This is a distinct product from our standard Southern Yellow Pine, with grades suited to refined interiors, rustic spaces, and historic-inspired projects.
Warm color
Golden-brown and amber tones develop character with age and exposure to light.
Pine durability
Longleaf Pine has a Janka hardness around 870 lbf. It is softer than Oak or Hickory and will show use differently.
Grade choices
Select and Vertical Grain offer a quieter appearance; Character and Mill Run embrace natural variation.
Solid, unfinished flooring
Finish and maintain the floor for its intended use; refinishing can extend its service life.

Is It Right for Your Project?
New Heart Pine is well suited to historic restorations, Southern and coastal homes, farmhouse interiors, bedrooms, studies, and custom spaces seeking the warmth of pine.
New Heart Pine is newly milled Longleaf Pine, not reclaimed material. Ask for samples of the intended grade, especially when matching an existing floor. For maximum dent resistance, compare Oak or Hickory.
Design & Finish
Select & Better and Vertical Grain bring a refined look; Character and Mill Run embrace knots and natural markings. Golden-brown and amber tones deepen with age and light. Review finish samples when matching an existing floor.
All flooring is supplied unfinished. Your flooring professional should confirm site conditions, acclimation, installation, finishing, and ongoing care for the chosen species and plank width.
Milling & Quality
How is this flooring milled?
Tongue-and-groove profiles, stress-relief grooves on the back of every board, kiln-dried material, and tight machining tolerances support consistent thickness and fit. Each board is visually graded and inspected throughout production. End-matching is standard on most grades and widths; discuss project-specific exceptions with our team.
What quality standards apply?
New Heart Pine is not part of the NOFMA program. It is produced with the same milling discipline and care as our certified hardwood flooring.
Why choose T&F Lumber?
Purchased from a trusted Alabama supplier for grain, color, and heartwood character. Primarily 2¼″ and 3¼″ widths for an elegant, linear appearance. A compelling option for period architecture and historic-inspired interiors. The same milling discipline used across our flooring range; New Heart Pine is outside the NOFMA program. Our family-guided company manufactures in Monticello, Georgia, with American timber and a commitment to long-term customer relationships.
